SPM Coaching Day
February 4 @ 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm
We have pleasure in inviting you to attend our Student Progress Monitoring (SPM) Coaching Day on Monday 4th February 2019.
• General Information
This event provides you with an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress in a fifteen minute interview, with his or her form tutor or coach. The discussion will be based on the recent SPM progress report, which you will receive on Thursday 31st January. The report will detail your child’s achievements, progress and attitude to learning in lessons. Your child will also have had opportunities to reflect on their development as a South Craven Learner and on their progress in subjects during SPM Review Weeks. SPM Coaching Sessions will build on this, to help your child to make further progress. By attending, you will have a better understanding of your child’s achievements and how you can work with us to help them move forward. For this reason we urge you to attend with your child if possible.
Students will be expected to attend their normal lessons in the morning before the Coaching Sessions begin. Usual bus services will be available to take students home at 12.15pm. It will be possible for students to stay in school between 12.15 and 3.10. There will be supervised areas at lunchtime and in the LRC for the afternoon. Parents of students who stay in school must organise transport home. There will not be a lunch service. However, for students who receive free school meals or who wish to stay in school until their SPM appointment sandwiches, drinks, fruit and snacks will be available.
If you would like your child to stay in school, or if they are eligible for a free school meal and will be taking it on that day, please let us know using this link:
• Making Appointments
We have changed the way that appointments are made for SPM this year, and you will now need to book your appointments for your children online. You will receive an additional email, containing a link to the Parents Evening System and your login details. Please note that appointments are booked on a first-come-first-served basis, and we urge you to book times as soon as you are able.
Students must attend their interview at the appointed time, in full school uniform. They should bring with them their tablet and any books or files which may contain subject-based priorities and teacher comments. It would be very useful if you would discuss these priorities with your child prior to the interview.
The coaching interviews will take place in the following areas:
Years 7 & 8
► Craven Hall
► Craven Building Business Area Rooms
► Craven Building RS Area Rooms
► Craven Building Geography Area Rooms
► Sixth Form Centre
• Please Note
– When you book your appointment you will also be notified of the location of your child’s coach, which may differ from the main areas above.
– If you wish to speak to another member of staff on the day (e.g. Head of Faculty) with regard to a specific issue we will endeavour to make you an appointment on the day. Please be advised this may not always be possible, but your query will be passed on and you will be contacted at a later date.
