History has rightly been described as an “argument without end.” It offers no fixed answers, but some insight into what it is to be a human being and real training in logical thought and the interrogation of ideas through time. You will develop an understanding of how our world has evolved over time, and find out why the present day is what it is.

Assessment

At the end of Year 13 you will take three Advanced Level exams and an essay.

    This is an extended 3000-4000 word essay based on independent study, with your teacher acting as a mentor.

Opportunities

  • Holocaust Trip
    We run a trip to Auschwitz for Sixth Form students. This one day visit is funded by the Holocaust Education Trust. Students visit Poland and do two seminars in Leeds, where they meet Holocaust survivors. Students are also expected to complete some reflections when they return and contribute to the Holocaust education in school. This trip is open to Year 12 students.
