Information Technology (IT) involves the use of computers in computing industry, commerce, design and the arts – in fact, almost every aspect of the modern working life. In Sixth Form we offer an exciting programme of study that enables you to create IT systems to manage and share information. This course will enable you to progress to a wide range of higher education courses in IT & Computing, or go directly into employment.
If you are interested in learning how to create IT systems to manage and share information, this course is for you. Alongside other fields of study, this course will give you the opportunity to progress to a wide range of higher education courses in IT & Computing. The Extended Certificate is equivalent to one A Level.
This content of this course incorporates the most up to date knowledge and skills to enable progression to higher education. You will study the relationship between hardware and software and managing and communicating information / data across three mandatory units:
> Creating Systems to Manage Information
> Information Technology Systems
> Using Social Media in Business
You will also complete a further unit to complete the qualification.
How am I assessed? This course is equivalent to one A Level. One of the four units is an externally assessed exam, one is a controlled assessment and the other two are coursework units.
